The first shot.

I'm not (usually) one to give a lot of inordinate attention to talk about "the second American revolution."

Quite frankly, I don't think we have the balls.

Someone at the VFW, however, pointed out that during the first American revolution, it was only something like five or six percent of those able to who actually took up arms and kicked the redcoats' collective backsides.

And since the latest statistics today show that less than ONE PERCENT of all living Americans have any military service. . . .

I make no illusions about being young and fit enough to go running and jumping through the woods and urban forests and skulking with face paint and exotic black guns in each hand. As the more experienced (read: aged/"been there, done that") of us relate over cold adult beverages, that is a young person's role.

Us older folks will still be there, however. If the government and left-wing loonies only knew just how organized many of the former military types actually are, and how quickly we can actually organize, arm ourselves and deploy, there would be an explosion in the sale of Depends undergarments.

Several years ago, I was at an event in Oklahoma where the overwhelming majority of us present were veterans. We had all five branches of the service represented and "war experience" ranging as far back as the Korean War. Somehow or another, talk about "what could we do?" began, and within an hour, we had "organized" ourselves into a rather formidable force.

The younger infantry and Marine guys bore the weight-bearing roles, a couple of former Army SF guys (Ranger, Green Beret) who were of the Vietnam era did offensive and recon mission planning, some of us "non-infantry" types organized into supply and logistics and transportation and intelligence roles, one of the Navy guys was a retired machinist and opened his shop to fabricate and repair anything we might need. Etc etc.

This was less than four-dozen veterans of all ages and we organized far quicker, more efficiently and with better immediate resources than the majority of SWAT teams within a two-hundred mile radius.

Bear in mind, there are millions of us scattered throughout America.

What makes us a formidable force is the fact that we have all served and because of that, we instantly understand discipline and chain-of-command and the need to either lead or be led. No arguing, no egos, no whining--just doing it.

It's something, as any vet will tell you, that you never forget. It becomes part of your DNA in boot camp and it never leaves you.

The other thing that bonds us together is the fact that we desperately do not want a war on our soil ever again, especially a civil war. But to protect peace, one must constantly foster strength.

But if a civil war is going to happen, a situation such as what is happening with a family-owned business in Colorado will be the catalyst.

In a nutshell, the Newland family started and built a small business in the HVAC industry and over the years, built it into a thriving success story that now employs around 250 workers. The problem is Obamacare and the Newland's religion--they're Catholic. Obamacare is requiring that the Newlands provide abortion services, sterilization, birth control, etc to their employees even though such actions are in direct conflict with their religious doctrine.

The Newlands, standing on their religious freedoms, declined and Eric Holder's DOJ filed suit, in essence telling the Newlands "you can keep your religion or you can keep your business. Choose one."

An injunction was granted, but the government's argument against such was the following:

According to the Obama Administration, however, the free exercise of religion is something done only one day a week in a house of worship. It argued that the “Plaintiffs’ free exercise claim fails at the outset because for-profit, secular employers generally do not engage in any exercise of religion protected by the First Amendment.

This is unbelievable. It's also frightening.

It's also a perfect combination for "the first shot" to occur.

I'll go on record as stating that I will not stand idly by and watch an American's religious freedoms being trampled by a thug administration that routinely defecates on the Constitution for no other purpose than to further empower itself.

A word to the government: None of you ever wore a uniform or badge. You're sole "authority of enforcement" comes from those who do or who have. We swore an oath to the Constitution--not you. We'll defend the Constitution against any and all enemies.

Don't forget that.

Of course Obama talks "more gun control."

Face it, our president is as clueless as the lapdogs in the media that are constantly jock-sniffing his backside like the dogs in heat they are.

In the wake of a mass-shooting, the clueless politicians and cowards--aka, liberals--clamor for more gun control, with Obama now spouting off on the issue himself. Tighter background checks. AK-47s in the hands of soldiers, not civilians. Blah blah blah.

What a bunch of stupid SOBs.

Two words on how well government-mandated gun control works:

Eric Holder.

That's right, the nation's top law enforcement hack is also the nation's top perpetrator of gun crimes, ala Fast and Furious. What's more, the chief Idiot (Obama) apparently had full knowledge, thus his enacting "executive privilege" to keep the records and papers from Congress, ala the American People.

The International Association of Police Chiefs has always been a testicle-challenged organization in which there has never been any need for functional urinals at their convention halls since these chiefs all squat to urinate. So no surprise on their stance.

However, as we move closer to a police state in Amerika, consider that it is the police (their chiefs) who clamor for increasing gun control for everyone BUT the police.

That should scare the hell out of everyone reading this.

The first chapter of my novel, Above Reproach, illustrated what happens when a deranged individual/s intent on causing as much harm can do when their targets are unarmed and basically helpless. But later in the book, when they are confronted by armed and prepared citizens, the outcomes are drastically different.

By the way, that's not fiction. The National Rifle Association published The Armed Citizen every month in their flagship publications--and all those events are lifted from various newspapers across the country.

Being armed can save your life. Being  unarmed can cost you your life.

Just whose damned side are the politicians and police chiefs on anyhow?

Once again we see that criminals ignore signs and laws.

(re-posted from jdkinman.com)

Typical.

Didn't we see this in the Omaha (Nebraska) mall shooting a few years ago? Another "safe, gun-free zone" in which some criminal totally disregarded the law (isn't that what criminals do, by definition?) and started thinning the herd of sheep.

This almost mirrors the opening chapter in my book (Above Reproach) in which armed terrorists targeted "gun-free" zones and cities in which guns had been outlawed for law-abiding citizens. Wholesale slaughter resulted.

Much like Aurora, Colorado.

Where were the police? Where were the military?

Since liberal sheep insist that only police and military need or should have guns, then where the hell were the police or the military in Aurora? Never mind the fact that the military, by law, is prohibited from "enforcement" actions in domestic matters.

So where were the police--even off-duty police?

Contrast this with a scene a few months ago in a grocery store in Salt Lake City where another deranged animal started slashing a fixed-blade knife at patrons, cutting several of them until a law-abiding citizen with a concealed handgun license stopped the attack.

Contrast this with a scene in Ocala, Florida where a couple of scumbag punks walked into an internet café armed with a gun and a baseball bat and attempted to rob everyone until a 71-year-old pulled his legally concealed handgun and fired on the thugs.

I know a lot of folks in Colorado and even in the Denver area who are CHL holders, who are cool under pressure, many of whom are veterans, some of whom are past law enforcement and some of whom are regular sport shooters.

I also know that NOT ONE OF THEM would ever set foot in that theater because it advertised itself as "gun-free" and prohibited firearms.

Looks like that policy was an epic fail.

I REFUSE to patronize any place, business or organization that does not trust me to responsibly exercise my Second Amendment rights. Those same places, businesses and organizations somehow trusted me to carry a firearm when I was wearing our nation's uniform, but they no longer trust me now that I'm back home and a civilian.

So I will not, repeat, not patronize them. It's their right to refuse me service. It's my right to insist on having a fighting chance when some scumbag thug robber or nutjob decides that "today is the day" and wants to go on a killing spree.

Armed citizens could have, and would have prevented the melee that occurred in Aurora, Colorado.

But instead, liberals--which I classify as COWARDS--insist on blaming guns, NRA, Rush Limbaugh. . . anyone but themselves for their cowardly policies denying the masses their rights in order to feel "safe."

The opening quote in my book says it all:

"Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety." (Benjamin Franklin)

And while the cowards (liberals) are crying about the dangers of guns and all the guns we have in this country, when is the last time a massacre of this note occurred at the NRA convention, or the SHOT show, or a gun-show, or at a Bass Pro Shops or Cabela's or any other outdoor/firearms/sporting goods store?

Liberals are to blame for the massacre in Aurora. Not conservatives. Not gun-owners. Not Rush Limbaugh or Sarah Palin or the NRA.

Think about that for every shopping and purchasing decision you make.

Is there a showdown coming between law enforcement and the public?

*Sigh* I just read another one of "those" stories, and I'm waiting on my blood pressure to decline.

Deputies from a Florida sheriff's department do the usual o-dark-thirty raid on a house--the wrong house--and kill the occupant who comes to the door with a gun in his hand.

I worked in law enforcement a long time ago. Not once--repeat, NOT ONCE--did we ever knock or bang on a door without announcing that we were the police.

Not once.

Yeah, we went looking for people at o-dark-thirty because even scumbags sleep. But at o-dark-thirty, most scumbags are out at scumbag locales doing scumbag things.

At o-dark-thirty, most law-abiding, righteous citizens are sleeping so that they can work another day and pay another day's worth of taxes to help keep dumbshit sheriff's departments up and kicking in doors in the middle of the night without announcing who's kicking in the door.

What really grates the living hell out of me in this story is the sheer arrogance of the ass who is defending the murder of this citizen. I quote:

"When we knocked on the door, the door opened and the occupant of that apartment was pointing a gun at deputies, and that's when we opened fire and killed him," Lt. John Herrell said. "Even though this subject is not the one we were looking for when he opened the door. He was pointing the gun at the deputy and if you put yourselves in the deputy's shoes. They were there to pick up someone who was wanted for an attempted homicide."

Not sure about you, but if/when my doorbell gets rung or my door gets knocked on at 1:30 a.m., I answer the door with a gun in hand. I'm not a criminal--I'm an American citizen for who the Constitution guarantees me the right to answer the door at 1:30 in the morning with a gun in my hand.

Especially when whoever is doing the knocking does not announce who the hell they are.

Another example of police arrogance and stupidity resulting in the death of an innocent citizen.

And, another example of some asshole police "commander" trying to blame it on the innocent citizen exercising their rights to defend themselves against whatever scum may come pounding on their door at 1:30 in the morning.

This final "justification" quote from the jackbooted deputy pretty much sums up why law enforcement across America is falling into the same favor as trial lawyers and politicians:

"It's just a bizarre set of circumstances. The bottom line is, you point a gun at a deputy sheriff or police office, you're going to get shot," Herrell said.

OK, Mr. Herrell, think about this. The bottom line is if you go pointing a gun at innocent citizens, badge or no badge, you're liable to get shot. And having shot in many matches with cops, I know who the better shots are.

And the police ain't them.

Police: Get your act together and start putting a muzzle on idiots like this Herrell and you damned well better start identifying yourselves when you pound on people's door.

Otherwise, we're going to start shooting back.

Step right up and join TSA!

Step right up, folks!

Bullied as a young person growing up in your middle-class neighborhood?

Ridiculed in the gym locker room because of underdeveloped/non-developed reproductive organs?

Failed your ACT or SAT tests?

Unfit for military duty?

Is your IQ the average of that of a wilting houseplant?

Do you have strong leanings towards sexual predation?

Unable to pass a bonafide background check?

Are you otherwise unemployable in this age of Obama?

Have zero concept of Constitutional freedoms, in particular the Fourth Amendment?

NO WORRIES!

Join TSA, where our motto is: "The worse you are, the better we become!"

You can thank our absolutely gutless elected officials, going back to George W Bush and his stupid-assed Patriot Act and creation of the Department of Homeland Security, for this travesty.

They did, after all, have the option of bombing the terrorist back into the Stone Age, allowing passengers to fly armed, profiling terrorists instead of toddlers and 87-year-old grandmothers in wheelchairs.

Like I said, GUTLESS elected officials.

But I'm convinced the majority of America doesn't care.

Who's on American Idol tonight?

The impotence of the police.

Chicago continues to prove why they have become the California and NYC of the Midwest.

A man walking his dog has his throat slashed.

The police's response is to urge citizens to walk in well-lit areas, have a cell phone and not hesitate to call 9-1-1.

In Texas, and elsewhere, our response is to carry a firearm and if some wacked-out cracked-out creep comes up to slash our throat while we're out walking our dog, then there will be blood flowing, but in all likelihood, from a round hole in the creep's body rather than a jagged line from our throats.

To be a victim or not be a victim. The choice is ours--just not in Chicago.

One thing is for certain, however. The police are impotent to do anything about it. On the other hand, traffic tickets don't seem to be a problem. One type of enforcement costs money, the other type makes money.

Seems to be a national trend, doesn't it?

Contempt doesn't even begin to do it.

I remember back when the messiah was walking on the political waters of 2008 and declaring, verily, that his administration would be totally transparent and held accountable at all levels.

He preached from the mainstream mountain about how hearings and meetings on healthcare and other concerns would be broadcast on C-Span and that the American sheep would have full access.

What a bunch of B.S.

Today, Obama's chief legal racist and murderer, Eric Holder, hid like a quivering sissy behind the president's protective cloak of "executive privilege" in refusing to release records and documents requested by the House committee investigating Fast and Furious.

So Rep. Issa (R-Calif) who leads the committee is going to push--and get--a vote for contempt.

What he needs to be pushing for is an indictment for obstruction and an indictment for conspiracy to commit murder because that is what Fast and Furious was all about.

It was about putting illegal guns in the hands of Mexican cartel animals with the full knowledge, and expectations, that those guns would be used in murders and thus able to be tracked back to the U.S. which would give the Obama regime fodder for going along with the United Nations effort to disarm American citizens.

This is wrong on so many levels, but above all, it makes Obama, Holder and Napolitano traitors to the Constitution and to America. Summarily, they should be indicted, tried, convicted and imprisoned.

Problem is, we do not have the guts in Congress or the Senate to do this. With few exceptions, every single elected leader we have in Washington is little more than a self-serving oxygen thief who exists for the primary reason to enrich their own coffers and increase their power base.

I, for one, am sick of it. Sick and damned tired of it. I'm also to the point that I no longer care if what I write ends up inflaming the government goon squads. I have no illusions that if I "stand and fight" that I'll be erased with no more effort than swatting a fly out of the air. I'm ex-military and ex-LE. I know what the government has at its disposal.

I could run, I suppose, off to another country, but that too isn't really an option. I fought for THIS country, damnit, and swore an oath to it.

So about all I really have left is the hope that our elected officials will grope around in their over-priced trousers and try to find their testicles so that they can summon up the courage to do what's right.

Contempt resolutions aren't going to cut it. This administration had a direct role in the domestic murder of a U.S. citizen and law enforcement agent, and AG Eric Holder must be held both responsible and accountable.

The travesties of injustice perpetrated by the goon squads assembled and led by Janet Napolitano are closing in on the images and memories of the German secret police. Napolitano must be held responsible and accountable.

Both Holder and Napolitano were appointed by the chief perpetrator, Barack Hussein Obama. Obama must be held responsible and accountable.

Congress--we're watching you.

Real men.

I bumped into a guy at a grocery store on Saturday afternoon. Literally.

We were both trying to read our wife's chicken-scratch that passes for a list. I'm pretty sure "beer" wasn't on either list, but that's the aisle where the man-to-man collision took place.

As I looked up to apologize, I saw a large guy wearing a biker's vest flying colors.

I have a long history with bikers, mostly positive. That would also include history with some of the one-percenters, also known as the outlaw motorcycle gangs. I've never really had any problems or issues with them.

Bikers generally just want to be left the hell alone. I can relate to that completely.

Bikers have their own lifestyle. I can relate to that.

Bikers will also stand solidly for something they believe in and I absolutely relate to that.

The overwhelming majority of bikers we see on the roads and bi-ways and highways of America are not the outlaw one-percenter bikers. Instead, they are simply lovers of the open road, the roar of their Harley and the fellowship of like-minded individuals.

The biker I ran into was sporting colors that read "Bikers Against Child Abuse."

Our church had a chapter of Bikers for Christ and I'm familiar with a number of Christian fellowship biker groups. Every year I contribute to the local bikers' ride for the Marine Corps' Toys For Tots program.

I asked this guy about his colors and he unhesitatingly told me about the organization. He didn't talk like a PhD (thank goodness), he didn't stand like an apologetic sissy (at around 6' 4" and extremely fit, that would've been hard to do) and he explained the group's mission quite well.

I asked for a website address and he invited me to follow him outside when we finished shopping. In the parking lot, he gave me a brochure.

Back at the house, I punched up the website and was amazed. Bikers Against Child Abuse is a worldwide organization with chapters not only all across the United States, but all across the world.

Well, why not? Child abuse is not specific to just the U.S. or any one country.

Now, lest you think that BACA is a group of badass bikers looking to go and kick the crap out of the slimy weasels who get their rocks off beating and abusing children, that is not the case.

The mission and operation is far bigger.

In fact, the first line in the brochure the biker gave me states "We are child support focused. We are not a vigilante group. "We do not search out and hunt down bad guys, nor do we pursue those who are under suspicion of hurting children."

Instead, BACA works within the system and stands as "guardians" over and with children who have been abused and who are scared or terrified as a result. It is frightening enough for an adult to testify in regards to having been beaten or raped or assaulted. Imagine the sheer terror a child faces.

But imagine two colors-flying bikers, who fear nothing, standing on each side of you, with a gentle hand on your shoulder and a quiet whisper in your ear assuring you that NOBODY is ever going to hurt or harm or even scare you while they are around.

That's what real men do.

The members of BACA do not go looking for a fight; rather they stand shoulder to shoulder with abused children assuring them that there will be no further harm coming to them.

These men stand for something. They're not vigilantes. They're not knee-cappers. They are far from it. In fact, the individual chapters conduct a rather lengthy, in-depth background investigation on each prospective member, then require a full year's worth of riding with the chapter before membership is considered.

That's a better vetting process than we have for most cops, let alone politicians.

And yet, there will be those who see a couple of Harleys roaring down the street with riders flying colors and the inevitable shaking of the head and "scumbags" will be on the tip of the tongue.

Think again. These "scumbags" are real men and they are standing for children who are abused by lesser men--men who often look at the bikers as "beneath them."

Funny how society, left to itself, often works.

Bikers Against Child Abuse is a 501(c)3 organization which means donations are tax-deductible. I am now helping support our local chapters because gas is expensive.

But not nearly as expensive as the damage that fear and injury does to our children.

Bikers Against Child Abuse. Real men worthy of our respect and support.

Racism, Guns and Escape from Chicago.

Yet another story of how safe the residents of Chicago are from the roving gangs of black thugs.

A man had his face beaten in over a dropped iPhone.

If you click on the picture, you'll there is not a white face in there. Likewise, if you read the story, you'll learn that not one of the attackers were white.

But the victims were.

A girl dropped her iPhone on the CTA Red Line train. A black thug picked it up and announced "it was his." The girl's companion asked for the phone back and was beaten. Badly. And he still didn't get the phone back.

Where is Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson? I'm still wondering if this asshat of a president we have would think that any one of the six gangsters would look like his son if he and the great moocher had boys.

No word. Silence. Nothing from the deadfish mayor, either. In fact, violence against whites has seemed to escalate since Rahm stole the mayor's office.

One reason is that guns are verbotten in Chicago. Even in spite of the Heller decision, the Chicago political machine that panders to the roving black criminal element and their sympathizers have outright defied the Supreme Court decision.

That is to say, the mayor, the aldermen, the police commissioners and their lap-dogs, the district attorneys and everyone in a position of authority defy the law of the land.

Fine. I propose we give Chicago the law of the jungle. The law of Darwin. In other words, fight back.

I'm sending a letter to my elected rats demanding that ALL federal funds be cut off from Chicago immediately until which time Chicago adheres to the Heller decision and allows its inmates, er, residents, to legally own a firearm inside the prison, er city walls and to obtain a CHL with requirements similar to those in any other state.

Secondly, I'm demanding that the elected rats send in the FBI and find these CTA thugs and arrest them for a hate crime. I'm sick and tired of a hate crime now being defined as "white on black" and no other way.

But what is really tough about this is if you go back to the story I linked to up top and read the comments. Racism is roaring to a white-hot inferno in Chicago and it is doing so because there is no leadership in the black community.

Anytime a Bill Cosby or other respected black individual puts out the call for accountability and to stand on your own two feet, the entitlement crowd within the black community calls that person an Uncle Tom.

And we, the non-black community put up with it because, for some reason, we're TERRIFIED of being labeled as a racist.

Not me. I grew up in as "diverse" of a neighborhood as possible in the early 60's and I learned at an early age that niggers and black people were two totally separate races. Black people taught me that. Likewise, my hispanic friends taught me the difference between "mexicans" and greasers. My friends taught the blacks and the mexicans (we didn't have the term latino or hispanic back then--our friends who were from south of the Rio Grande were often referred to as mexicans and absolutely zero offense was ever inferred or taken by it) the difference between white people and white trash assholes.

Every ethnicity has its gutter trash percentage that by their actions, cause racial stereotypes to not only exist, but to flourish.

I am not going to tell you that "some of my best friends are black" because quite frankly, I have to stop and remind myself that they are black. I don't look at them that way. I look at them as my friends. Asian, hispanic, black. . . doesn't matter.

Likewise, some of the sorriest individuals to ever steal oxygen from this planet have been as white as me. But I simply saw--and see--them as white trash.

Forget all this hate crime nonsense. A crime is a crime. Find these CTA thugs and arrest them, try them, imprison them.

Trayvon Martin? Forget the race crap. Trayvon was a thug and would've been a thug if he'd been polka-dotted.

Instead, let's start looking at our society as producers versus non-producers. Achievers versus non-achievers. Providers versus takers. Honest versus dishonest. Criminal versus non-criminal.

And let's arm the good people of Chicago to protect themselves against the non-producing, non-achieving, criminal element regardless of what color they may be.

In doing so, we'll lower the crime rate and begin to eliminate racism at the same time.

Only white people should have concealed handgun licenses.

That seems to be the message sent by a squad of uniformed goons in Fort Pierce, Florida.

Fellow Texan, pilot, patriot, gun-owner and blogger Sean Caranna publishes All Nine Yards, a blog about guns and airplanes and conservative things. He's a kindred spirit, to be sure.

He published this story on June 4th and my blood still has not stopped boiling.

There are two brief videos embedded in this blog post. The first shows a black man, Dale Norman, walking down the sidewalk, minding his own business when he gets slam-dunked to the concrete by five Fort Pierce cops.

His crime?

Allowing his holstered, concealed weapon to show--his tank-top had ridden up, exposing the bottom half of the firearm from what is seen in the video.

The goon squad sweeps in, guns drawn. Fine. You have a "man with a gun" call, in an apparently "economically challenged" area of town. But the nano-second the stormtroopers show up and jump out of their cars yelling, Norman complies one-hundred percent.

He makes NO THREATENING OR HOSTILE MOVES WHATSOEVER. For this, he gets ramrodded into the pavement, the proverbial knee in the spine while being handcuffed, yanked up, patted down, arrested and stuffed in the patrol car.

The catch? Dale Norman has a legal, lawful CHL. In fact, it had been issued only five days prior--so, as Sean points out, figure three of those days it was in the mail.

I understand that concealed means concealed. I also understand that here in the South, it gets hellishly hot and humid and proper "concealment" clothing isn't always as concealing as we'd like. Perhaps this CHL holder's instructor wasn't exactly top-shelf and didn't explain in great detail the necessity of staying concealed or the penalty for a "flash" which apparently is getting slammed to the concrete by five uniformed badge-toting apes.

You can't hear a lot of audio on the video but you CAN hear the radio exchange from dispatch to the units. What is not heard is any "panic" about a subject with a gun. What is also not heard is any information from the cops stating that the subject/suspect claims to have a CHL. The vast majority of permit-holders are pretty damned quick to let trigger-happy cops know that they have a PERMIT for the firearm they are carrying.

The cops did the right thing by detaining and restraining Mr. Norman, but they had zero reason to slam-dunk him and then treat him the way they did.

Story doesn't end there. Norman went to jail, spent the night in jail and the prosecutor has stated he intends to file and press full charges against this CHL holder.

Where the hell is the NAACP and Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and the rest of the race-baiting alpha-hotels? I'll go out on a limb and ascertain that had this been a WHITE GUY strolling down a tree-lined street with $300K homes, he would not have been slam-dunked, would not have been arrested and taken to jail, would not have spent a night in jail and would not be the focus of an overzealous prosecutor.

But since it's a black man exercising his CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS, the liberal (read: hypocritical and cowardly) faction of the black community is nowhere to be seen defending this young man.

My blood is continuing to boil.

A few days ago, I wrote about law enforcement seemingly doing everything they can to start a war with the populace they are paid to serve. Incidents like this bring that war one step closer.

But what do we care, right? After all, it's just another black hoodlum who was stupid enough to think he could actually FOLLOW THE LAW and get his CHL but when it shows, well, let's just say he got what he deserved, eh?

The cops' actions were pathetic. Period. The prosecutor's actions are pathetic. Period. The lack of support from the (so-called) black community is pathetic. Period.

Give Mr. Norman a ticket for "flashing," require a couple of hours of supplemental education on proper carry and concealment, then drop the thing. The man took the time--and money--to attend a class, purchase a holster, submit to the background check, blah blah blah. And yet the police continue to treat him like the enemy.

No, make that treat US like the enemy--because I don't give a damn what color the guy's skin is.

It might be one of us in Fort Pierce on a hot day getting slam-dunked to the concrete.

Florida law enforcement is looking more and more like Chicago politics every day.

Attention law enforcement--veterans are quickly getting fed up with you.

I guess the day has come.

When I was growing up, I could almost always count on a man (or woman, rare as they were) in a police officer's uniform to be one of good guys. As long as I wasn't doing anything wrong, I had nothing to fear from them.

That is simply not the case today, although I have zero fear of cops.

I used to be one. I know how utterly unprepared they are for actual, real, explosive violence. I also know that one-on-one, or two/three-on-one against a prepared, trained individual, they are hopelessly ill-trained and ill-prepared.

And yes, even with their guns and tasers.

What brings up this threatening, ominous post today?

Maybe the fact that I'm fed up with incidents like this one that took place in Wisconsin.

Here is a Marine veteran being arrested for exercising his First Amendment RIGHT at a political rally. What's more, the fat police officer tells the Marine he's going to "get his ass kicked."

The Marine states to the officer that he took an OATH to protect, defend and preserve the Constitution. The First Amendment is a huge part of that Constitution. The cops who arrested this Marine took the same oath.

The difference is that one of the people involved in this incident defended the Constitution and did so in a far away land where people tried to kill him. The other person crapped on the Constitution right here at home and in an expression of one of our MOST precious freedoms--the right to protest.

Unfortunately, stories of modern-day law enforcement's gross abuse of power and authority are becoming far too common. It used to be almost scandalous if a story broke about a dirty cop or one who ran ramshod over someone's rights or got overly brutal.

Hell, now we have cops murdering citizens and the great majority of Americans don't even blink.

Typical of the sheep.

However, I know from the talk amongst my vet friends that a lot of former soldiers, sailors and airmen are getting fed up. More than fed up, we're getting mad.

Fighting mad. Fighting BACK mad.

I know what cops are taught at the academy. I know how cops are taught to shoot and how to fight in unarmed or hand-to-hand situations. I also know how U.S. servicemen are taught to shoot and taught hand-to-hand. There is a huge difference. We're not trained to restrain--we're trained to disable, to cripple, to kill. It was taught to us that if it ever came down to using our unarmed combat tactics, we were already dead and our mission was then to take whoever and however as many as we could with us.

Soldiers and sailors and airmen have a natural loathing of firing on the flag. Translation to civilians, that it is to say, we loathe the idea of having to wage war against our own citizens--and law enforcement is considered civilian citizens.

There is a difference between being a drunk sailor at a frog-hog bar in Little Creek or at a beach hangout in Coronado and having the local cops roust you for drunk and disorderly, opposed to having a group of sheriff's deputies bust in your door at 0300 on a no-knock warrant and then shoot you over a dozen times and kill you for being "non-compliant" as was the case in southern Arizona some time back.

Homeless vets getting rousted and roughed up is nothing new. David Morrell wrote a famous novel about it that turned into a movie you might recall, known as First Blood.

The big problem is that there are some righteous cops out there. There are even cops out there who are vets themselves and who saw hostilities in lands far away. However, I'm not reading any stories or reports about them desecrating the Oath they took or flagrantly crapping on people's rights.

But I'm also not reading or hearing about them raising hell with their alpha-hotel comrades who ARE.

That's where it has to start. Righteous cops who revere the Oath they swore speaking out against the bad element that is growing like an out-of-control cancer in their profession.

You can push the sheep of this nation around. They'll take it. But a whole bunch of veterans are starting to get really tired of it.

In Wisconsin, the cops arrested that Marine because he did not want to fire on the flag. Those two slobs with badges, had the Marine exercised his training and experience, would've stood exactly zero chance.

And if law enforcement decides to make war on America's veterans, then God help law enforcement.

You started it, not us.

My fellow Americans, your Commander-In-Chief.

This just in. . .

With this being Memorial Day weekend, maybe we should take a pretty good look at the asshole who is our present Commander-In-Chief of all armed forces and military personnel.

Maybe all those drugs he inhaled, snorted and allegedly sold while in high school and college has affected his reality-challenged brain. Take this headline, Obama Twice Mistakenly Mentions ‘My Sons,' While Defending Contraception Mandate, and story for example.

I mean, hell, he's had his two DAUGHTERS for more than ten years. You'd think he'd have it down.

Maybe he was thinking if they were sons, they'd look like Trayvon Martin?

And yet there are still numbnuts in this country who want this bozo for another four years.

Drug-crazed, Nude Man Breaks Into Marine's Home--Met With Three Bullets.

From the "Not just good news, but damn good news" stacks. . .

We need more of this.

Don't mess with a man who's been trained to improvise, adapt, overcome.

I wonder if someone is going to challenge "stand your ground" on this. . .

Autopsy reveals Trayvon Martin had drugs in his blood and urine. What an incredible surprise.

ABC just released the story.

Shock me.

When this whole mess first broke, Zimmerman was portrayed as a 300-pound hulking mass of black-hating right-of-the-Ku Klux Klowns wannabe Nazi.

Trayvon was portrayed as having sprung straight from Mother Theresa's own holy-lined uterine womb.

NBC was one of the first perpetrators in turning this into publicity chum for race-baiting asshats like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. Selective editing of the 9-1-1 call between Zimmerman and the Sanford police dispatcher proves that beyond reproach.

I hope Zimmerman sues NBC out of existence. I wish advertisers had the balls to walk away from NBC for the duration of this entire trial fiasco.

Yeah, I know. I also wish the tooth fairy was real.

Of course, back to the media, it was ABC who rushed to broadcast some crappy footage in which they claimed they didn't see any blood or dangling appendages from George Zimmerman as the police were taking him inside the station. Now ABC breaks the story about Martin being doped up. Go figure.

I read on John Lott's blog where the medical report listed off Zimmerman's injuries and they were one-hundred percent consistent with his story of self-defense.

Now the autopsy on Saint Trayvon indicates the gunshot wound to ALSO be consistent with Zimmerman's story.

In other words, everything that is coming out that can be PROVEN as factual is supporting Zimmerman. The assertions offered by Saint Martin's race-baiting ambulance-chasing "show me the TV cameras and cash, baby!" crowd is systematically being proven to be nothing more than the typical bullshit Sharpton is famous, er INfamous for.

What a surprise.

How many years has it been since Tawana Brawley?

Open Carry and idiotic sheriffs.

I'm a proponent of OC--that would be Open Carry. As in carrying my firearm, in particular, my handgun, openly so that I don't have to keep it concealed at all times.

There are arguments for and against OC, but my argument for it is simple:

Freedom.

I live in Texas. It gets hot in Texas. Not just hot, but damned hot. I'd love to be able to slip out of my sports coat at a restaurant when being seated without having patrons begin shrieking at the sight of a holstered handgun on my side.

When getting out of my pickup truck to fill up with gas, I'd like to not have to mess with a jacket or unbuttoned shirt to keep my crazed handgun concealed and calm.

Etc etc.

I know folks--lots of them--who say they'd never carry openly. Hallelujah and pass the cornbread, it's a free country and that's your choice. But try not to make YOUR choice more important than MY choice.

Oklahoma is on the verge of having an OC law and I salute my Okie brethren to the north of the Red River. They seem to be a helluva lot smarter and free than we are in Texas (except for taxes and crappy roads). *I've just edited this to add that the governor, God Bless her, has signed the bill.

But in reading the article I linked to, I see where some numbnuts sheriffs have "issues" based upon their opinions about Open Carry. According to the article:

We called every single sheriff in Oklahoma to see how they feel about open carry. Ten out of 77 sheriffs support open carry whole-heartedly. Thirteen sheriffs say they support the open carry concept, but have serious issues with the ambiguity of the actual law. Twelve say they can't make up their mind one way or the other. But most sheriffs we talked to say they are against open carry altogether. The rest wouldn't comment or didn't get back to us.

Many of the sheriffs opposed to the open carry law offered these arguments:

- They won't be able to tell the bad guys from the good guys.

- It will be dangerous for the person openly carrying the gun.

- There will be more officer-involved shootings.

- There will be more guns stolen because citizens don't have weapon retention training.

With the exception of the twenty-three real lawmen who are presently sheriffs in Oklahoma, most sheriffs contacted for the article are typical--let me repeat, TYPICAL--law enforcement dumbass administrative types.

"Twelve say they can't make up their mind." *snort* Typical again--friggin politicians sticking their weenie up to see which way the dust is blowing.

But let's look at the other "reasons" the idiots give for opposing it:

• They won't be able to tell the bad guys from the good guys.

Turn in your badges, clean out your offices and get the hell out of law enforcement. All that time spent running your jails and you claim you won't be able to tell a good guy from a bad guy? Dumbasses. Oh yeah, during my time in LE I saw a buttload of criminals openly-carrying in Bianchi or Safariland holsters. . . Yep, saw a lot of criminals carrying nice S&W L-frames in shoulder holsters, or Sigs and Glocks in tactical holsters.

Besides, sheriffs, we don't give a damn if you can tell good guys from bad guys. It's WE THE CITIZENS who need to be able to tell the good guys from the bad guys, which brings us to the next point:

• It will be dangerous for the person openly carrying the gun.

How?

Do these sheriffs mean to tell me that less that 1/64" of fabric that would be between my holstered gun and the glory of the outside world is all the makes me safe when I'm carrying?

Well, hell. All I need to do then is continue wearing long-sleeve shirts and sports jackets and just ACT like I'm packing. . .

Or could they be talking about weapon retention? Let's point the finger back at LE on that issue and ask how many cops lose THEIR weapons? I lost count when I was in that line of work. Gun came out while running. Gun came out while entering patrol car. Gun fell out of ankle holster in restroom stall, slid into next stall where patron finished his business and grabbed the gun and hauled ass. Worked with an FBI agent one time that had no idea where EITHER of his issue guns were--and hadn't known where they were for over ten years. He BORROWED other cops' guns for qualifications and simply filled in his SNs. You can get away with that kind of crap in the small remote offices.

• There will be more officer-involved shootings.

Wasn't the same tired old argument used for plain-old concealed carry and didn't we see, unequivocally, that it was patently and blatantly false?

Then there is always the old standby line about how "carrying guns in the open makes other people nervous or it scares them."

Carrying a gun is a Second Amendment right no different than having a bumper sticker on your car is a First Amendment right--and when I see an Obama For 2012 bumper sticker, *I* get nervous and it scares the hell out of me that anyone could be so stupid.

Message to Law Enforcement: When you insist on not trusting us with a gun, why should we, the citizens and your employer, trust you with a badge?

Think about that.

I thought college was supposed to make you smarter.

OK, my book (Above Reproach) has been out for a bit over two weeks now, and already I'm getting some real sweet "love mail" from the anti-gun groups.

In particular, some of the college campi crowd are taking me to task for having a couple of my main characters armed on a college campus. The fact that it was a private school somehow escaped their college-education-in-progress minds.

Just last week, I journeyed to the eastern edges of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex to celebrate the 21st birthday of a young man with whom his family and ours have grown close over the past four years. This is a family with old-world values and morals and who quietly walk the talk, rather than the vice versa we see out of so many people today.

The young man had all of his necessary instruction, shooting qualifications, paperwork, fingerprints, et al finished and was waiting on that magical day that some how transforms him from a snot-nosed rampaging can't-be-trusted punk into a responsible citizen who can now legally drink responsibly and purchase a handgun and carry it concealed.

My oh my but what a difference ONE DAY can make in our lives, eh?

Many years ago when I left the military and was at Texas Tech studying advertising and business, the drinking age had recently jumped up from eighteen to nineteen, with the promise of jumping up to twenty-one in a year or so.

The college campi students were understandably in an uproar, but they had an argument that rubbed me wrong.

"I'm old enough to register and vote and I'm old enough to sign up for military service and die for my country, but I'm not old enough to drink!"

Every time I heard that, I would ask the young person (normally a guy) to show me his voter registration and military ID.

Silence.

So, thinking maybe he was confused, I showed him mine. Then explained that he'd have no trouble drinking on any post or base he might be assigned to. . . AND that if he didn't like the law, he'd have to first REGISTER TO VOTE before his voice really would be heard.

I digress.

The anti-gun hate mail as it pertains to carrying on college campuses amuses me. The common thread is that students aren't mature enough, smart enough to safely carry a firearm to and from class.

Hmmm. I remember having a S&W .357 Magnum in my backpack just about everywhere I went. I had some hellacious schedules, often not getting out of class until well after dark. Anyone familiar with Texas Tech University (in Lubbock, Texas) knows the campus is a monster in terms of size and that it's a LONG walk to the parking lots and that the busses quit running (at least back then) even before the banks closed.

Like many universities, Tech had a "ghetto" surrounding it which was cheap housing for students--but it also attracted the usual human sewage who saw college campuses as easy hunting grounds.

Not for this student.

The e-mailers insist that students can't handle the responsibility of carrying a concealed weapon on campus. Yet, these same e-mailers (college students themselves, they say) have no problem raising hell about the drinking age.

Which makes you dumber--being sober and carrying a concealed weapon, or getting loaded then getting in your car and driving home?

The yo-yo's like to claim that student CHL holders would take their guns into bars, get drunk, crack off a few shots. . .

B.S.

The overwhelming majority of CHL holders I've met over the years have been incredibly responsible when it comes to adult beverages while they have a firearm on them or about them. This includes the younger generation. In fact, the younger generation seems to often times be MORE mature about that than those of my generation and age.

I was always under the impression that people went to college to get a little smarter, and most succeed. I did.

So why would being able to have a CHL and ensure my personal safety while on campus somehow make me dumber?

Seems like knowing the risks (crime, rape, assault, robbery, being mugged, some crazy shooter on campus, etc) and NOT taking responsibility for protecting yourself is the dumb thing.

These anti-gun folks just don't get it.

But then, they never have.

We gun-owners and CHL holders need to get behind and support our college students who do not wish to be part of the flock of sheep.

Could another Texan be our next president?

This is almost too good to be true.

Here are some links to the stories, but it seems Keith Judd, a federal inmate incarcerated in a prison in Beaumont, Texas is serving a rather long sentence (much like the American citizens who are suffering under Obama) for extortion.

Extortion?

Hell, this guy fits right in with Obama and the Chicago thugs!

Anyhow. . . it seems that Judd is also a serial presidential candidate and he took, get this, FORTY-ONE PERCENT of the vote in the West Virginia Democratic primary.

Oh, this also makes him eligible to be a delegate for the DNC convention coming up this fall. Wonder if he can get an early release from Hillary (who supported felons being able to vote, remember) to attend the convention?

Stories about this--

Keith Judd, Texas inmate, makes strong showing against President Obama in West Virginia primary

Against Obama, even a jailbird gets some votes

Inmate leads Obama in 8 W. Va. counties in primary

Sorry, but I STILL haven't been able to stop laughing my ass off at this.

Only in Obama's America could this happen.

Do NOT be a victim.

I have read this before on several gun-forums, but it is a good read and even better advice for all of us.

Don't be a victim.

This comes from a cop who is still on the job. I'm sure his/her superiors would have a bowel movement in the shape of a brick if they knew who this cop was. . .

Read. Enjoy. Learn. Live.

Good advice from a cop about robbers

"I am going to attempt to provide some insight into street encounters. Other may have different viewpoints. I am not here to argue. I will say some of the comments I have seen posted in the threads about this sort of matter make me realize that while some ARFCOMMERS are clearly street veterans others are not. This is really for those who are not.

Background

First, my info. I worked in the street of one of America's most violent, dangerous cities for 15 years. I usually worked in the worst part of that city. I spent 15 years in patrol. I liked patrol. It was wild. Most of the time I worked in areas covered in ghetto. By that I mean large housing projects combined with run down slum housing. I have worked all shifts. Later I became an investigator including a robbery investigator. I have spent countless hours in interrogation rooms talking to hold up men. I know them. I am still an investigator but have quit playing the Robbery game because my family was starting to forget what I looked like.

The Enemy

Some may object to me calling hold up men "the enemy". You can call them whatever you like. I can assure you however they are as deadly an enemy as you will find anywhere but the battlefield. Even many soldiers probably lack the viciousness and utter disregard for life most hold up men possess.

No one wakes up in the morning one day and decides to become an armed robber. It is a gradual process that requires some experience and desensitizing. Before a man will pick up a gun and threaten to kill people who have done him no harm in order to get their usually meager possessions he has to get comfortable with some things.

He has to get used to seeing others as objects for him to exploit. He has to accept he may be killed while robbing. He has to accept the felony conviction for Robbery will haunt him all his life. He has to accept he may need to kill a completely innocent person to get away with his crime.

This is a process that starts with stealing candy at the corner store as a child. It progresses through bigger property crimes that may also involve violence. But one day G gets tired of selling his stolen property for nothing and decides it would be better to steal cash. Cut out all that tiresome sales stuff.

Keep in mind many petty thieves, auto burglars, residential and commercial burglars, paper thieves, and hustlers will get to that point and decide not to become armed robbers. Most will. It is a special group of outliers who decide threatening to kill people for a few dollars is the way to go.

Once a man starts armed robbing he has crossed a line most won't. Don't forget that when you are looking these bastards in the eye. Their decision to kill you is already made. Your life means nothing to him. Only his does. His sole motivation for not killing you is he doesn't want a murder case. He has already accepted he may pick one up though.

We hunt hold up men around the clock once they are identified. We send teams of fire breathing fence jumper/door kickers to find them. We will bring their mother to the office and convince her she is going to jail if we don't have Junior in our office in an hour. We have her call her son crying hysterically for him to turn himself in before she is arrested and held without bond as a material witness and her home seized for harboring him. Most of the time they won't. Fuck their own momma.

We will hit all Juniors friends and family's houses. We make it so no one will harbor him. He is so hot no one will let him in their house or even talk on the phone with him. We put money on him so he knows he is right to be betrayed and set up. We do this because of one thing.

That thing is they WILL kill someone if they keep robbing. That is why the city is willing to pay all the overtime. They don't want the murders. Think about that when you see Junior coming. The more robberies he does the closer he is to killing someone. Maybe you.

The guys who hit you on the street are gang members. They are Gangster Disciples, Vice Lords, Crips, Sureonos, many others. They do not see themselves as part of society. The street is all they know. They don't expect to live long or stay out of prison. They take a delight in your fear and suffering. They are warped individuals for the most part. They can be extremely dangerous.

One time we were locking up a hold up man and having a conversation about how they target their victims. I was saying they pick easy ones, another guy was saying they preferred easy ones but would take anybody.

I pointed out a uniform Officer there was an NFL size guy to that hold up man. Frankly the dude was a monster. I asked hold up man if he would rob him. He said "If I needed the money."

You

Chances are good you are a law abiding person except for maybe a little light weed smoking and maybe driving a little drunk every once in a while. Most of your life you have been taught to be nice and don't point guns at people. You are the exact opposite of your enemy who was taught just the opposite. Remember a lot of street life is like prison life. Who's the man is everything. Violence is the currency of the street.

You do not possess total disregard for the lives of others and do not want to kill anyone. You are concerned about the ramifications of shooting someone. Your family, your possessions and finances on the line. Your enemy has none of these concerns.

The laws that keep you from carrying your gun in bars or where ever mean nothing to your enemy. Your reluctance to shoot someone works to is advantage. His greater experience in street violence and the element of surprise is on his side.

Everyone should call their local FBI office and get a copy of Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted. When it first came out it was ground breaking because it demonstrated to academics and other elites what street police knew all along. What did it show in interviews with cop killers? Nice guys finish dead. That's right. Most of those offenders commented that the Officer they killed set himself up to be killed because of reluctance to use force early in the encounter.

You can probably find it on line now. A lot of the victim Officers were a lot like a lot of other people, normal people. They were the opposite of their enemy.

Am I advocating becoming the enemy? No. I am saying the person who is robbing you has certain traits, attitudes, and background. That is all.

Dynamics of Encounters

Hold up men target victims on the street in an impulsive, opportunistic manner. They see someone and make a quick judgment call on whether to rob them. The time between when you are targeted and they are on you isn't long. Therefore, situational awareness is everything.

If you see G coming you are in good shape. If you don't you will be the victim who says "He came out of nowhere". No he didn't. There are many tricks to watching out but simply watching your back is the main thing. Watch your back. If you do it enough it becomes second nature and you won't even realize you are doing it.

Watching out is great but unfortunately many self defense courses stop there. You have parked you car in a well lit area, are aware of your surroundings, and looky here, here comes three guys across the parking lot and they start to kind of fan out.

When you lock eyes with G the very first thing you need to do it indicate you have a weapon. It doesn't matter if you do or not. If you are a woman put your gun hand in your purse and keep it there. If you are a man fan your shirt or coat tail with your gun hand. Make it clear to dude you are mentally prepared to draw and making sure your gun is clear. This will many times result in an about face by dude. It is the single best robbery avoidance tactic IMHO.

Not long ago I was walking down the sidewalk in my town to go get my car. I was holding a folding chair in my gun hand. A car slow rolled past me with 4 heads in it. The guys in the back seat turned around as they went by looking at me. They went a little farther and U turned in the street.

Here they come back. As they started to slow down I looked at them with as contemptuous a look as I could muster and switched the chair to my left hand and flicked my shirt tail with my right hand. They just drove on mad dogging me.

In another case I was at a Christmas party and walked a girl to her car about 3 am. As we said our good-byes two guys were walking across the parking lot. One went behind a dumpster. I though he was peeing. He came out from behind the dumpster with a bottle.

As they got closer I stepped clear of that girl and unzipped my jacket at those two guys. When I did the guy threw down the bottle and they walked by cussing at me. If someone challenges you after you indicate you are armed, say "I don't have a gun." Then they will know you do.

Here is an opposite story. A girl my brother knows was walking her dog when a guy approached her. She was polite. Mistake. He talked to her about the dog and said she had pretty hair and reached out and touched her hair. She did not slap his hand down or aggressively object. Mistake. He asked her if her dog bit and she said "No". At that time he slapped the shit out of her, drug her into a wooded area, and raped her.

The answer in the street is always "No". Can I ask you something? No. Do you have a cigarette? No. Can you tell me what time it is? No. The answer is always "No". Don't be nice. Stop the encounter as soon as it starts.

When to draw

Despite warnings I often see on the Net I have yet to encounter an instance in which a hold up man called the police to report his intended victim threatened to shoot him. Thugs do not want to come into contact with the police. They may already be wanted or realize chances are good they have been identified in a recent robbery. Or what ever. They are not going to call the police if you draw on them.

Supposed two guys are approaching you in a parking lot and do the classic fan out maneuver. You indicate you have a weapon by clearing your gun hand and fanning your jacket at them. They are not discouraged. DRAW!

I am not saying you should pull your gun out, assume a Weaver stance, and scream "That's close enough motherfuckers!" What I am saying is draw your gun and hold it beside your leg as you start to move to cover. I am very fond of telephone poles. Anything will do though. They will see this. They will remember they have to be somewhere else. They will not call the police.

Then you can just put your gun back in the holster and go back to whatever you were doing like nothing happened. Why? Because nothing did happen. A happening is when shots are fired.

Do not hesitate to draw. If you are somewhere you are supposed to be and someone appears who is not supposed to be there like a closed business show him the end of your gun. Could it be Mother Teresa looking for her lost cat behind your closed business? No it is some motherfucker up to no good. He won't call the police to report he was prowling a location when a guy ran him off.

When to shoot

The time to shoot is immediately upon seeing his weapon. You are not a policeman who has to try to arrest the guy. No need to scream at him. No exposure while you yell for him to drop the gun.

In deer hunting the experienced hunter takes the first good shot. May not be the perfect shot but it never is. Novices pass up a doable shot waiting for a better shot and then the deer is gone. Take the first good shot you are offered. Hopefully your alertness and hostile cues will prevent you ever having to fire. But once you see his weapon, shoot.

If a guy is coming at you with a gun in his hand shoot him. Shoot him right then. If you don't shoot first you may not shoot at all. I have known more than one person who was shot and received life changing injuries and also shot their attacker. Their only regret was not shooting sooner. Like Bill Jordan said "Nothing disturbs your enemy's aim like a slug delivered to the belt buckle area".

Guns and weapons

The handgun is the best weapon you can carry easily. I understand it is not always possible to have one due to laws, restrictions, whatever. I am not telling anyone to disregard laws about carrying weapons. Each person has to decide for themselves what they are comfortable with. I will say there is no substitute for a pistol when you need one.

Also if you can not be trusted with a pistol after a few drinks you can't be trusted with a pistol period. Booze is liquid bad judgment no doubt but it shouldn't make you into a damn moron. If you are a moron sober I don't know what to tell you.

Types of guns and ammo are always debated and probably always will be. I have seen people shot with all common calibers. My conclusion is if you hit someone between the collar bone and the tip of their ribs three times with anything, they are handled. Bigger is better but something is better than nothing. Get your front sight on his shirt and stay on him as long as he is standing with whatever gun you have.

Just have a gun with sure fire ammo. Draw early and fire immediately upon seeing his weapon. That course of action is about all you can do to up your odds of ending things favorably. Guns like the Ruger LC9, SIG 239, Glock 26/27 are examples of guns small enough to carry but with enough power and capacity to be useful. Do not be afraid to use a French Lebelle if that is the only gun you have. A gun is a gun. I like a Glock 19.

Training

We all want the best training. It can be expensive if you are having to pay for it and it can be hard to find the time to do it. There is a whole lot of BS out there. What can you do? First, pistol handling is not rocket surgery. If you will learn the basics and practice on your own you can be fine. Smooth draw, quick pairs, reload. If you know those things well you can be OK.

I know a young man who shot down two hold up men in 2010 at very close range while he and his GF were walking home from the store. He in Wyatt Earp like fashion ignored the fire coming from the gunman and killed him and wounded his accomplice. He nor his GF were injured. He like many was willing to give them the money until he picked up on nonverbal cues that because of his GF they were not quite satisfied with the money. He had a Glock 27.

He had only the most basic of training in gun handling but did do some draws and some dry fire a couple times a week and live fired maybe once a month. That basic skill combined with knowing what to do was enough. He shot at the first possible moment despite having let the guys get the drop on them. When the gunman turned his head because a car drove by that was the opening. A split second is a long time sometimes.

Work on some one hand shooting at close range. That is a skill not as popular as it once was and you want to use two hands when you can. Often you can find yourself doing something with your off hand though so be able to shoot with one hand out to 5 yards or so.
After

If it comes to pass you are forced to shoot someone do not feel bad. When the police come just tell them a guy threatened you with deadly force and you were forced to fire. I know there are bad police out there in some parts of the country who don't support self defense. I can't help you with that.

Do not talk to them until you have your attorney present. Now most young guys don't have an attorney on retainer and you may have no idea who to call. That is OK. You will figure it out but in the mean time don't talk about what happened other than to say you were forced to fire. You don't have to be an asshole just remember wait for your attorney.

Hopefully you will not give a statement for a couple days. Remember if you are put in jail that doesn't mean you are charged. Most places can hold you 48 or 72 hours on a felony before charging you or letting you go. Breath deep and get an attorney.

Expect to never get your gun back. You may get it back one day but maybe not. Do not buy expensive guns for the street. Buy yourself a nice sporting gun if you want a nice gun. Keep your street guns basic. The factory Model 10 Smith and the GI 45 have done a lot of work over the years and aren't fancy.

Worlds

We all live in different worlds. My world is filled with felons and gang members. Violence is common place. No one would be surprised if one of their friends called and said they shot a hold up man at a place of business or parking lot. In the past when I made calls the fact that the guy who is beating his GF is also on parole for 2nd degree murder flavored my world.

You may live in a smaller, less violent place where shootings seldom occur and it would be a rare to shoot a hold up man. I envy you and will be moving to a place like your town as soon as I can.

But be advised no matter where you are a hold man is going to be about the same. Whether he is a home boy or a guy who just exited the interstate into your town and needs some quick money. He is going to have a vicious streak and no regard for your life. Treat him like he treats you.

Giving them the money, doing what they say, all that may work but there is no guarantee. If you have never read Jeff Cooper's book The Principles of Personal Defense. I suggest you order a copy immediately. It is a short book but summarizes a lot of important things.

Last year we had a trial here regarding an armed robbery that occurred. Three or four guys took a young couple from a parking garage near a college out by some railroad tracks where they raped, shot, and beat them. Their lives will never be the same.

The lesser thugs all turned on the trigger man at trial. The trigger man's statement in the paper was after all that had happened he felt like he was a victim. Think about that. That is the mindset you are up against. "

Gun owners rejoice--it's here!

Heh heh. Please forgive the self-effusiveness, but I just got word that Above Reproach is now live and available for sale and download on Amazon.com.

I'd teased it a bit a few weeks ago, calling it the "novel for gun-owners written by a gun-owner."

In doing so, I got some interesting feedback, all of it positive but one remark in particular stuck out. My apologies for not remembering exactly who said it, so I'll paraphrase.

"It's not just a gun-owner, but a GUN-LOVER. . ."

So true.

I love guns and the gun world. Yes, we have a very tiny minority of assholes in our midst, but they are just that--a tiny minority.

On the side of this blog, I have linked to A Girl And Her Gun one of THE most succinct self-expressions about what it means to become a gun-owner and join this non-exclusive group of now just over 100,000,000 Americans, and who knows how many more life-loving, freedom-seeking individuals in other nations like Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Central and South America, Europe and elsewhere.

Gun-owners. We are a special breed. We are of all colors, races, religious creeds, economic backgrounds. . . we're white collar and blue collar and sometimes no collar at all. We are a rare group that strives to be inclusive rather than exclusive. We WANT more people to legally own guns and join our inclusive group because we stand for a lot of things like individualism, independence, freedom, patriotism and self-sufficiency.

Unlike so many other groups, if someone doesn't like firearms, we're okay with that too--just as long as you don't try to take ours away from us. I have nothing against vegans. . . right up until they tell me what I should be eating. Then they have a fight on their hands.

That is a challenge we face daily here in America, but thank God we have a Constitution and Bill of Rights. Our friends in other countries are not nearly as fortunate.

In the forward remarks of the book, I salute my "many friends" from these countries and hope that the words and scenarios in the pages therein give you inspiration and reason to continue fighting for your RIGHT to self-defense and self-determination.

A lot of things went into Above Reproach and its writing, but above all, a lot of love of country, of my fellow citizens and for the freedoms we have directed the course of the book. And at the base of all of that, is the Second Amendment which protects and gives strength and teeth to the other amendments.

Many other fine writers have acknowledged gun-owners, but I've only seen a handful of other writers who openly embraced the Second Amendment and the armed citizen as he and she is embraced in Above Reproach. Matthew Bracken does it in his books, William W. Johnstone did it in his, especially the Ashes series and a few one-offs.

What I attempted to do in Above Reproach was to present everyday Americans--people just like you and me--who unwillingly found themselves in a situation in which the police could not help them. It was either take your own defense into your own hands, or suffer the horrible and all likelihood fatal consequences. The scenarios are all too real and all too easy to happen, and without armed citizens, all too likely to succeed.

Between the advance copies sent out (and my thanks to Old NFO for graciously volunteering to be an advance reader--his feedback was invaluable and much of it incorporated into the first round of revisions), proof copies and discussions on a handful of gun-related discussion forums, word is beginning to get out. I've been approached with several radio interview requests, a couple of mid-sized newspaper interview requests and more opportunities. Some gun stores are requesting posters of the cover, and I've received over a hundred requests for signed 5x7s of the cover.

And this is all before the book was even available for purchase and download! To say I'm both humbled and overwhelmed would be a Texas-sized understatment, if such an oxymoron is even possible. But this is simply another indication of how tight the gun-owner community is. We take care of our own--as A Girl And Her Gun point out in her post--and we take care of those who take care of us and who do not demean us.

We're finishing up the cover and copy for the print edition and it should be available by mid-May. By that time, Above Reproach will be available at the iBookstore, Barnes & Noble, Sony e-Reader, Baker & Taylor, Kobo, Copia and a host of other retailers and e-tailers.

The second novel is in progress, entitled Altar of the False Gods and in which the Second Amendment plays the role of protector against Big Business and Big Government and Wall Street as small and independent businesses develop a strategy and tactics to not only ensure their survival, but to continue growing and profiting by taking market share away from the heretofore untouchable colossal giants of business.

To all who have helped, all who have read and all who have supported me on this journey, you have my unending gratitude. The title of my blog is "An Ordinary American," and is epitomizes what we can do, as ordinary Americans, in this great nation by banding and standing together and being the best we can be.

Thank you.

Arm yourself, then let the kangaroo court of all kangaroo court trials begin.

First, arm yourself. To the teeth.

In case you need a refresher as to what happens when race-baiting sewage like Jackson and Sharpton and other sloughed off bacteria so vile that even the body's own rectum rejects it spur on hate and divisiveness.

Anyone here remember 1992?

Los Angeles, to be more specific. April 29th, 1992 to be exact.

Now we have a repeat performance on the table for Orlando, Florida thanks to an absolute asshat airhead of a so-called "prosecuting attorney."

First off, I'd like to know which law school lowered its standards to allow such a legal nincompoop to steal oxygen from them for the three years it takes to earn a JD degree. Secondly, since it is more than obvious that her appointment, Corey's that is, is politically fueled so as to gain favor with the blacks and the liberals, just how STUPID can the liberals actually be?

So Angela Corey grandstands and charges Zimmerman with second degree murder.

Only one problem: Intent.

Oh, and motive.

Corey will have to prove that Zimmerman had intent to murder Trayvon Martin on the night in question, which means it was a pre-meditated act. If that is the case, then what was the motive?

Manslaughter? Absolutely. I will not back away from the fact that Zimmerman was and is a bonehead. He thought he'd just trot right out there and play Superfly with Martin and instead (apparently) got his ass kicked--and kicked bad enough that he was forced to use lethal force to defend himself.

If only he'd stayed in the damned SUV. . . but he didn't and now he's been arrested on second-degree murder charges. He'll beat those charges, and if a Florida jury somehow manages to act like a California jury and he IS found guilty, an appeal will overturn it faster than you can say "No justice, no peace" in your best mushmouth Sharpton imitation.

Then Florida will burn and be looted.

But then again, maybe not. Floridians are armed. Heavily. If rioting and looting occurs and the Black Panthers fulfill their threats, then look for an open season on that one certain breed of cat and afterwards, "endangered species" will not even begin to describe them.

But a race war is what Jackson and Sharpton and others of their ilk want. Race race race race. It's a hate crime. White on black crime is always a hate crime and always racist.

Me? I'm still waiting on prosecution and civil rights investigation and apologies from Sharpton and Jackson and other rectum-rooters for this little incident in 1992:

Trust me--a lot of folks still have this image burned into their mind and will not, I repeat WILL NOT, allow such a travesty to happen again.

Be it black on white or white on black or black on black or white on white. . . it will not be tolerated.

Those who want a race war, fine. Get on with it. Just go do it in another country and leave my country alone.

I propose that all the blacks and whites and hispanics that want a race war be given the opportunity, weapons and real estate to do so. The rules will be simple:

Last idiot standing loses.

America wins.
