ESPN is now blocked on our television remotes.

Maybe you haven't heard, but Hank Williams, Jr., a great American, made some unflattering remarks about the Kenyan imposter.

Remarks, I might add, that are almost verbatim what the liberal rats at ESPN and other media darlings said about George W. Bush during his two terms.

Difference is, Hank gets his opening theme music pulled from the Monday Night Football show on ESPN.

Fine by me. Screw ESPN. We just sent them a short, testy e-mail explaining why every television set in our household has every ESPN channel blocked--we don't even want to accidentally stumble across one of their channels and give them possibly one more viewer than they deserve.

That goes double for that birdcage liner known as USA Today. I followed a weird link on the Hank story that took me to this pathetic excuse for a newspaper, and as is my habit, I paid more attention to the comments of their readership than I did the feeble attempt at journalism displayed by their so-called writers.

The comments justified my opinion that the readership of Pravda in its day wasn't much different than the readership of USA Today at present.

Seems the viewership of ESPN is much the same.

“Some of us have strong opinions and are often misunderstood. My analogy was extreme – but it was to make a point. I was simply trying to explain how stupid it seemed to me - how ludicrous that pairing was. They’re polar opposites and it made no sense. They don’t see eye-to-eye and never will. I have always respected the office of the President.”

“Every time the media brings up the tea party it’s painted as racist and extremists – but there’s never a backlash – no outrage to those comparisons… Working class people are hurting – and it doesn’t seem like anybody cares. When both sides are high-fiving it on the ninth hole when everybody else is without a job – it makes a whole lot of us angry. Something has to change. The policies have to change.” – Hank Williams, Jr.

And you know that his comments will never, ever make the mainstream media.

Thank God free speech only extends to those that agree with the mainstream media.

I am probably one of a dozen people in North America that doesn't have cable or satellite TV. It is not that I can't afford it - I just don't see the value in it. I have 4 channels, one is fwench, and one is the CFBC (Canadian F****** Broadcasting Corporation). I only use the thing to play rented DVD's now.

I wonder if this is potentially a problem, AOA: it's supposed to be a good thing to be exposed to numerous viewpoints, and people that live in echo chambers tend to think within narrowly defined terms. Are we shafting ourselves by locking out channels, cancelling subscriptions and refusing to hear the MSM?

I admit that most of their crap isn't worth the time of day...but there is some merit in understanding how our political enemies think.

Turn ESPN back on, find out who are their paying sponsors and then tell those who are financing ESPN why you are turning ESPN off.

Just another justification for my cutting off the satellite TV service almost ten years ago.

The crap got way too deep for me to tolerate and to keep my BP at acceptable levels I just use my computer.

Better news choices for sure.

I guess you all forgot about the flak The Dixie Chicks took for lesser comments about Bush.

Bd, your "dumb-assed-ness" never ceases to amaze me or any other ordinary Americans. . .

No corporation "blackballed" the Dixie Chicks.

The listeners did. Country and western fans decided, in one helluva big hurry, that the Dixie Chicks were not part of what they wanted to listen to or support.

ESPN, the corporation, made the decision on Hank Williams, Jr.

Leave it to a typical liberal with chronic, incurable cranial-rectitus to be incapable of seeing, let alone understanding the difference.

Bocephus is a great guy. Love his music. Never watched ESPN and I don't know if I get it on Direct TV or not, but I doubt he's too worried about ESPN.

Anon 12:08,

You must be an out-of-work journalist/journalism grad who can't get work. . .

AOA, I gotta love those journalism majors in college. Bitching about how hard their classes were, and how they might not get an A in a class. All the while, they called me an idiot for getting a 3.0 in civil engineering classes.

I just hope they now have a class to teach the journalism/mass communications students how to use the coffee machine at Starbucks and how to fold the clothes the right way at Old Navy..

Hank Williams, Jr. IS a great American, that's for sure, not like Barack Hussein Obama

Bd,

You're a typical liberal lemming--and you also make things up.

Nashville did not blackball the Dixie Chicks. At the time, the Dixie Chicks were making dumptruck loads of money for Nashville and opening up a whole new genre of c/w music for Nashville.

The fan base blackballed the Chicks. The fan base called up the radio stations and raised hell. The fan base took their Dixie Chick Cds and had bonfire parties with them and used the Chicks' Cds as sporting clays targets.

Nashville sure as hell didn't encourage it, promote it or originate it.

If Nashville HAD, that would have put them in the "Damn near as big of a dumb ass as Bd" category.

And Hank Jr a "hater?" So what. I pretty much hate the piece of shit we have posing as an American and as a president right now, too.

Whatcha gonna do, Bd? You see, it's us "evil redneck conservatives" that have the guns. We're the ones who sign up and go to war to keep your lily-white virgin ass safe and secure. We're the ones who work all day so you don't have to.

So again, what are you going to do? Whine some more? Cry some more?

You see, when little penis-wrinkles like you get in our face, we just knock the shit out of you and move on.

Not a damn thing you can do about it except for whine and cry some more.

Which is what liberals excel at.
